Generative Art

During my last semester I was curious to explore possibilities in generative Art. The combination of art and computational skills is the connecting piece of my structural and creative side.

Generative Art

The term itself describes a very broad category of art created by a frame of rules that oneself creates. This is nowadays common to implement via code. The central characteristic is the autnomous development of the artwork due to the frame of rules. E.g. using randomness for positioning is a sort of autonomy as opposed to static position values. This means you get a different, completely unique piece of art each time you run your script, load your page, or respond to some user interaction. During my math studies I've been so amazed by the beauty that hides behind the formulas. Grasping mathematical concepts visually has been a very fulfilling experience for me.

Linear aesthetics

I started my studies with the basic patterns from Cellular Automata to Lindenmayer Systems. But all in all my interest converged to line figures and rotation patterns. Here you can see a selection of my results.

I am constantly working on new patterns and am open to suggestions and inspirations. You can find all my generative art sketches here.
